Rare Crosses
There are currency pairs in the foreign exchange market that present higher liquidity. The EUR/JPY is a perfect example. Note that not all the crosses include the U.S. Dollar. Many call these exotics; others refer to them as rare or obscure crosses. If you think about it in terms of personality, the exotics may be deemed as the eccentrics of the group.
Many investors prefer to stick with the more commonly traded pairs also known as the majors, because of the fact that they include the greenback in the mix. The rare ones include power duos like the AUD/CHF, the AUD/NZD and the GBP/CHF.
Trading rare crosses may be more difficult and somewhat riskier. However, as you may have gathered from your course, currency trading risk is unavoidable. With many of these, volume is lower and thus, there are fewer opportunities for profit. But don’t set them aside or forget about them. There are strategies you may utilize such as range trading exotics; these crosses can showcase movements that will baffle your mind. Once you take care of paying the spread, you can make money. Be aware that on some occasions they’re prone to rather strong spikes. That’s why experts who trade these pairs place their stops at a wider distance from the support and resistance levels. Despite the obstacles they may present, they can help you gain substantial earnings. So keep in mind that willingness to learn something new is what separates traders from mere enthusiasts.
